NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

NEW DELHI: The Union Sports Ministry has reportedly provided the seal of approval to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to shift this year's Indian Premier League (IPL) to the UAE. Following the postponement of the T20 World Cup by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday, IPL is now set to be held during the window of September 19 to November 10.

MUMBAI: Close on the heels of reports emerging that the Board of Control for Cricket in India had asked its general manager - Cricket Operations - Saba Karim to resign from his post, the former India wicketkeeper has done just that. The BCCI had appointed the former Indian wicketkeeper to the position in December 2017.

KOLKATA: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly on Wednesday went into home quarantine after his elder brother and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) joint secretary Snehasish Ganguly tested positive for coronavirus.  “He was suffering from fever for the last few days and his test report came positive today. He’s been admitted to Belle Vue Hospital,” a CAB official told PTI.

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has appointed Hemang Amin, chief operating officer of the Indian Premier league, as interim chief executive officer (CEO) in place of Rahul Johri, whose long pending resignation the BCCI finally accepted last week.  Johri was appointed as BCCI CEO in 2016 after the the board mandated head hunting firm Korn Ferry to help in the search for its first-ever CEO.

MUMBAI: India's tour to South Africa, a series involving three Twenty20 Internationals, which is currently in limbo as a fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, could reportedly be hosted in March next year.  The series was a late addition to the calendar, following talks between Cricket South Africa and the Board of Control for Cricket in India, and was originally scheduled to take place in August.

NEW DELHI: No date has been finalised for the meeting of Indian Premier League's (IPL) governing council, sources within the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) told ANI on Monday. The IPL's governing council is slated to hold a meeting this week in order to review various sponsorship deals following the death of 20 Indian soldiers in a violent clash last week with Chinese troops in eastern Ladakh.
