NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for the position of Performance Analyst with the Indian Women's cricket team as requested by the team members. The team management has expressed the need for a Performance Analyst who should not be more than 60 years of age. The deadline to apply for the same is September 20.

This initiative will offer millions of listeners across India the opportunity to follow their favourite sport via live radio commentary.

JAIPUR: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday lifted the Rajasthan Cricket Association's (RCA) suspension, RCA office bearers confirmed to IANS. Additionally, the Committee of Administrators recognised the amended constitution of the RCA, the newswire reports. The RCA will thus soon have its general elections. The constitution was approved as it was in line with the Lodha recommendations.

MUMBAI: The power skirmishes between the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators and the "old guard" of the Board of Control for Cricket in India continues. The CoA on Sunday issued a show-cause notice to Amitabh Choudhary, acting secretary of the BCCI, over his absence during the International Cricket Council's (ICC) conference in July. The ICC conference was scheduled from July 14 to 20.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) on Friday extended the deadline for completion of elections of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)'s state associations from September 14 to September 28. "The deadline for completion of elections of state associations is extended from 14th September 2019 to 28th September 2019," the CoA stated.

NEW DELHI: Former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Saturday. He was 66 years old and is survived by his wife Sangeeta Jaitley, and two children - Sonali Jaitley Bakshi and Rohan Jaitley - both lawyers. Jaitley had undergone surgeries to treat his cancer, and had been admitted to the ICU on August 9.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has dismissed, with costs, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by social activist Sudhir Sharma against the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) and Indian Premier League's (IPL) auction process. In his PIL, Sharma alleged that bidding of players in IPL is a violation of constitutional and statutory rights, calling it illegal and should be stopped.

India’s next assignment is a tour to the West Indies after which the home season starts with the series against South Africa from September 15.
