MUMBAI: Match No. 32 of IPL 2022 between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, which was shifted from MCA Stadium in Pune to Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai due to COVID-19 outbreak in the DC team, finally went ahead on schedule. 

The developments came even as a second overseas player of Delhi Capitals tested positive. This came just hours ahead of the team's game against Punjab Kings. 

New Zealand's Tim Seifert tested positive after a Rapid Antigen Test conducted on Wednesday afternoon, making it the sixth such case in the camp.

PARIS: The French Tennis Federation (FFT) announced Thursday that Roland-Garros will be pushed back one week due to restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will now be played from 30 May through 13 June. Last year, the clay-court Grand Slam was moved from its traditional dates to 27 September-11 October because of the pandemic.

MUMBAI: Close on the heels of 10 members of the ground staff team at the Wankhede Stadium testing positive for COVID-19, Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik on Monday co0nfirmed that permission has been granted for the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches in the city, but with restrictions.  Malik said that matches will be played behind closed doors and only relays will be allowed.

KUALA LUMPUR: Two Super 100 badminton tournaments – the Russian Open 2021 and Indonesia Masters 2021 Super 100 – have been cancelled due to the global upsurge in COVID-19 related restrictions, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) said on Monday. "The ongoing COVID-19 restrictions and complications left local organisers no choice but to cancel the tournaments," a BWF statement reads.

LONDON: The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club (AELTC), which owns and operates the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament, has stated that this summer's championships is likely to go ahead with a reduced crowd capacity. The tennis world's only grass court Grand Slam is set to start on 28 June, seven days after COVID-19 restrictions are due to end in England, BBC reports.

MUMBAI: Close on the heels of the Board of Control for Cricket in India shutting its doors on fans in the ongoing T20I series between India and England, the BCCI has decided to suspend all age-group competitions like the upcoming Vinoo Mankad Trophy.  The decision would be reviewed after the end of IPL 2021, BCCI secretary Jay Shah informed in a letter to all affiliate associations, accessed by ANI.

LONDON: The 2021 women's Rugby World Cup, scheduled to be hosted in New Zealand between 18 September-16 October, is set to be postponed until next year following a recommendation from World Rugby. The recommendation will be considered by the Rugby World Cup board and World Rugby executive committee on 8 and 9 March respectively.
