NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

MUMBAI: Mobile Premier League (MPL) and Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli have renewed their association for another year.  Kohli will continue to represent and endorse the brand across channels. MPL had first teamed up with Kohli early in 2019, releasing video campaigns with the charismatic cricketer ahead of and during the Indian Premier League (IPL).

MUMBAI: Belying expectations (and Star India's exhortations), the Indian Premier League (IPL) governing council on Monday decided to retain match timings of the night games at 8 pm as has been the case in previous editions's of world cricket's biggest annual jamboree.  Additionally, media speculation that the IOPL final would be held in Ahmedabad were also quashed by the BCCI's top brass.

NEW DELHI: Celebrated boxer MC Mary Kom is to be conferred with the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second highest civilian award, while world champion shuttler PV Sindhu will get the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest honour.  The duo are among eight awardees in the sports category announced by the government for the prestigious honours on Saturday, on the eve of the country's 71st Republic Day.
