NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced that the Indian cricket team will not travel to Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe owing to the current threat of COVID-19.  Team India was originally scheduled to travel to the Emerald Isles from 24th June for three ODIs and as many T20Is and to Zimbabwe for a series comprising three ODIs starting 22nd August.

MUMBAI: Even as speculatiom is rife (particularly in the Indian media) that the the COVID-19 pandemic will force the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia to be cancalled / postponed, the country’s sports minister, Richard Colbeck, has said the tournament could still be possible. And that too with spectators, though with limits on the numbers allowed.

DUBAI: The executive board of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), which met via video conference Monday, has left a final decision on the fate of the Asia Cup 2020, including possible venue options, for a later undetermined date. It is understood that the ACC will wait for the ICC’s decision on the T20 World Cup in Australia (October-November) before taking a final call.

NEW DELHI: Top golfers Shubhankar Sharma and Gaganjeet Bhullar and former cricketers Kapil Dev and Murali Kartik will tee off at the iconic Delhi Golf Club (DGC) on July 11 for a charity match to raise funds for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, PTI reports. The fund-raiser, in support of Magic Bus' COVID-19 relief efforts, will be played over 18 holes at the newly-renovated DGC.

NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is mulling various options to stage the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League, with the possibility of staging the IPL outside the country being their last resort. "The board is looking at all options. If it comes to taking IPL out of India, it may happen but as the last option," a BCCI source told ANI.

LAHORE: The Asia Cup 2020 is highly likely to be postponed due to the Asian Cricket Council's (ACC’s) continued deferral on a final decision, Pakistan's The News reports.  The hosting rights to the continental tournament lie with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which was expected to agree to stage the event in Dubai due to India's refusal to travel to Pakistan.
