NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

The meeting, which will bring together the CEOs of the 12 full members and the three associate representatives, will provide an opportunity for the CEC to collectively consider the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the sport.

JOHANNESBURG: Cricket South Africa and Sri Lanka Cricket have jointly decided to postpone their forthcoming limited-overs series over COVID-19 concerns. South Africa's tour to Sri Lanka comprised of three ODIs followed by as many T20Is, with the tour initially scheduled for the first half of June. Both the boards have now jointly agreed to postpone the series, with new dates yet to be decided.

MUMBAI: The iconic Cricket Club of India (CCI) on Friday decided to donate Rs 5.1 million to the Maharastra Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the fight against the fast-spreading COVID-19 pandemic. CCI president Premal Udani told PTI that an additional Rs 5 million will be raised with donations from its members and that will “be used for community purposes and pay our staff member and every worker (of ours)".

THE PAKISTAN CRICKET BOARD suffered a revenue loss of $90 million in its last media rights deal because of the frozen bilateral ties with India since 2008, an unnamed PCB official has confirmed. India have played against Pakistan only in ICC tournaments in the last few years due to the diplomatic tensions between the two nations.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ehsan Mani has answered the poser put out by SportzPower when it was first reported that the PCB was among the boards to have responded to the International Cricket Council's call for Expressions of Interest (EoIs) to host ICC events in the next cycle of 2023 to 2031.
