MUMBAI: Star India booked profit at Rs 2.87 billion during FY18, a 93% drop as compared to the Rs 5.54 billion recording during FY17.  The drop in profits was attributed to higher programming costs, which stood at Rs 48.873 billion during FY18, up from Rs 41.216 billion in the previous fiscal, Tofler reports.

MANCHESTER: City Football Group (CFG), owner of English Premier League side Manchester City, has confirmed the purchase of third-tier Chinese football team Sichuan Jiuniu, in partnership with UBTECH and China Sports Capital.  The acquisition makes the Chengdu, Sichuan Province-based outfit the seventh club in the global CFG portfolio.

MUMBAI: The much-coveted ‘Laureus Sport for Good’ honour, which is bestowed to an organisation bringing positive social change through sport, has been won by an Indian NGO named Yuwa this year. Based out of Jharkhand, Yuwa was founded by the American duo of Franz and Rose Gastler in 2009 with the aim of making young girls and women self-sufficient through the game of football in the rural parts of the state.
