NEW DELHI (June 03): The Supreme Court appoints. The Committee of Administrators (CoA) it sets up gets to work and ends up being more of a problem than a solution. The failed template created by the Vinod Rai-led CoA in the case of a recalcitrant Indian cricket board, that was high on talk and seriously low on worthwhile action, may well be repeated by the one that has been put in place to administer the All India Football Federation. 

IF its recommendations are implemented in full that is.

MUMBAI: Riding on the success of the Indian women's team's performance at the recently concluded Women's World Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India plans to introduce India A tours for women's cricket and expand the U-16 domestic zonal tournament to the all-India level. The BCCI women's committee will meet on Wednesday to decide the road ahead for women's cricket in the country.

NEW DELHI: Finally, the much-delayed media rights bidding for the Indian Premier League can go ahead as per the latest schedule of September 4 in Mumbai. This follows the Supreme Court on Monday refusing to direct the BCCI to conduct e-auctioning for world cricket's most valuable annual property.

MUMBAI: India cricket kit sponsor Nike is facing the heat after Indian players reportedly complained to the BCCI about the "sub-standard clothing" being provided to them. According to a report in the Indian Express, BCCI chief executive officer Rahul Johri and general manager Game Development Ratnakar Shetty have both raised the issue with the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA).

NEW DELHI: Only 10 of the 31 affiliated units of the Board of Control for Cricket in India have responded to the Committee of Administrators’ demand of submitting their members’ list.  The CoA had asked the state associations to display the list on their respective websites even though some of the units don’t even have a website.

NEW DELHI: Those enisted on BCCI's panel of commentators will likely have to sign an undertaking that they don't have any 'conflict of interest' as per the recommendations by the Lodha Panel. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, Sanjay Manjrekar, Murali Kartik and Harsha Bhogle, who is returning after a fall out with the BCCI post World T20 in 2016, have reportedly been short listed.

NEW DELHI: The BCCI is unlikely to change its mind about participating in the 2024 Olympics, if cricket does get included in the event. A decision to this effect could be taken when the board's general body meets next. The BCCI's reluctance to adhere to the Olympic Charter, which would effectively make it a national sports federation, is well known.
