United World Wrestling (UWW), which has been operating in lock-stop with the tainted Wrestling Federation of India for months now, has suspended vociferous WFI critic Bajrang Punia till the end of this year.

Reason? NADA's decision to hand him a provisional suspension for refusing to undergo a dope test. It bears noting that while the UWW has shown unseemly haste to take action against Bajrang, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), while aware of NADA's order, has sanctioned close to Rs 9 lakh ($10,800) for his training abroad.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday quashed an FIR against BJP MP Anurag Thakur, former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and others in a case related to alleged irregularities in granting land on lease for construction of the Dharamshala cricket stadium. PTI quotes a Bench of Justices AK Sikri, Ashok Bhushan and Ajay Rastogi as having said: "We allow the appeal. FIR registered is quashed."

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government Thursday approved a lease renewal policy for playgrounds that will be allotted to schools, colleges and gymnasiums, Press Trust of India reports. As per the policy, the schools, colleges and gymnasiums will have to pay 0.1 per cent of the 10 per cent of the market value of the plot for renewing leases.

DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has charged Sri Lankan bowling coach Nuwan Zoysa with three counts of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code and been provisionally suspended him.  Zoysa, who played 30 Tests and 95 ODIs for Sri Lanka during 1997-2007, has 14 days from 1 November to respond to the charges.

The terms of reference cover both Johri’s current employment as also his earlier stint at Discovery Communications. Johri has been the BCCI CEO from April 2016.
