Tennis Premier League plans tournaments across Gujarat

As part of its drive to keep the tennis fraternity engaged, especially at the junior level, the Tennis Premier League (TPL) has started its initiative with the Gujarat State Tennis Association (GSTA) to have a series of tournaments across the State.

There will be tournaments in different cities and the winners will compete in the Masters event to be held in Ahmedabad. Boys and girls in the under-10, 12 and 14 age groups apart from men and women would stand to gain scholarships.

Nadal’s Mallorca academy to host next ATP Challenger Tour
BARCELONA: The ATP Challenger Tour will return to the city of Mallorca in Spain for the first time in 21 years as World No.1 tennis player, Rafael Nadal’s academy is all set to play hosts to the event which will take place from August 26 to September 2. The tournament will be called inaugural Rafa Nadal Open Banc Sabadell and will be a $50,300 hard court event.

USTA delineates shot clock rules ahead of hard court swing

ATP to partner Tennis Australia for World Team Cup from 2020
LONDON: Following the conclusion of its board meetings, the ATP approved the revamped World Team Cup, the men’s tennis event offering $15 million in prize money plus ranking points, set to take place at the start of the ATP World Tour season from 2020.  The agreement is subject to contract with Tennis Australia.
