Portuguese supertar Cristiano Ronaldo has topped the Forbes list of the highest-paid athletes for a second year running.

Ronaldo also headed the list last year following his move to Saudi Arabian football club Al Nassr.

The latest list of the highest-paid athletes released by Forbes reveals that the 39-year-old Portuguese forward earned $260 million over the past 12 months, up from $136m in the business magazine's 2023 listing.

NEW DELHI: The FC Bayern Youth Cup, an Under-16 seven-a-side inter-school football tournament, is set to kickstart from 24 November, Press Trust of India reports. The tournament will enter its sixth year and is a joint initiative by adidas and Bundesliga’s most successful club, Bayern Munich. It will see participation of over 2,000 kids from schools across India.

LONDON: The Premier League announced Thursday that clubs have agreed to its proposal of handing outgoing chairman Richard Scudamore a total of 5 million pounds ($6.4 million) as a token of their appreciation for his services. Each club is expected to provide a sum of 250,000 pounds ($320,000) over a period of three years to pool in the funds.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system has been approved for use by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Referees Committee at the Asian Cup in January 2019 in the UAE from the quarterfinal stage, Australian Associated Press reports. It will be the first time VAR will be adopted at the Asian Cup, which has been expanded to a record 24 nations in 2019.
