Hero I-League 2021-22

KOLKATA: Gokulam Kerala held onto their nerves and created history by becoming the first-ever side to win two successive Hero I-League titles after their win against Mohammedan SC, here at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium on Saturday night. 

A narrow 2-1 victory on hostile territory saw the Malabarians win the game and win the title with a six point advantage, also ending Mohammedan’s seven-game unbeaten streak in the process.

NEW DELHI: The Hero I-League 2021-22 season is all set to kick off at the Mohun Bagan Ground in Kolkata on Sunday, December 26, where TRAU FC will take on the Indian Arrows at IST 2 pm. The matches in the I-League this season will be played across three venues – the Mohun Bagan Ground in Kolkata, the Kalyani Stadium in Kalyani, and the Naihati Stadium in Naihati.

NEW DELHI: Weeks before the start of the 2021 season of the Hero I-league, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) on Saturday barred former champions Chennai City FC from what is now officially India's second-tier league.  The decision to bar the I-League 2018–19 champions was taken by the AIFF's Club Licensing Committee after the The Lions failed to comply with licensing regulations.

NEW DELHI: The 2021-22 season of the Hero I-League is tentatively scheduled to kick off mid-December and will be held in Kolkata, as was the case in the 2020-21 edition, the All India Football Federation announced on Saturday. The declaration was made after a meeting chaired by Subrata Dutta, senior vice-president, AIFF, and chairman, League Committee.
