The Women’s Tennis Association has entered into a commercial rights partnership with CVC Capital Partners that also entails the private equity giant taking a minority stake in the WTA. 

While financial details were not revealed, Sky News reports that CVC would be paying $150 million for a 20% stake in the WTA, with the firm set to establish a new company to oversee broadcasting and marketing operations.

DUBAI: Renowned airport retailer Dubai Duty Free (DDF) has announced an extension of their global sponsorship deal with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), which will now enter its 15th year, having begun in 2004.  As a part of the contract, Dubai Duty Free will expand its Player Ambassador Program, adding the likes of World No.1 Simona Halep and Elina Svitolina on board, besides Caroline Wozniacki.

SAN JOSÉ, CA: The longest-running women’s professional tournament on the WTA tour has signed Mubadala Investment Company as its new title sponsor.  Event owner IMG has also entered into a long-term agreement with San José State University to host the event beginning in 2018, reinforcing its commitment to keeping the WTA Premier event in California’s Bay Area.

MUMBAI: Big ticket tennis makes a return to Mumbai with the WTA $125K Series L&T Mumbai Open, which will be organized by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA), in association with the Maharashtra state government, and hosted by the Cricket Club of India (CCI) at their courts from November 18 to 26.
