The BCCI has received support from the cricket boards of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to move this year’s Asia Cup out of Pakistan, following which a formal announcement of the Emerald Isles as host of the tournament is expected by month-end.

The only question that remains now is what stance the Pakistan Cricket Board takes on participating in the Asia Cup, as too the ICC World Cup, which India is hosting immediately afterwards.

COLOMBO: The Sri Lankan government said on Friday that the country’s picturesque Galle cricket stadium might not exist for long as its pavilion stand has been enveloped by a 17th century Dutch fort that has violated heritage laws, AFP reports. The fort is likely to lose its UNESCO World Heritage status due to its illegal construction, which also includes the pavilion having 500 seats.

DUBAI: Sri Lankan captain Dinesh Chandimal’s appeal against the one-Test ban by match referee Javagal Srinath was rejected by the ICC-appointed judicial commissioner, Michael Beloff.  As a result, Chandimal’s four demerit points will also remain in his disciplinary record, which signifies that another offence would result in him being banned for either 4 Tests or 8 ODIs, whichever comes first.
