Bopanna's academy launches tennis prgm for underprivileged kids

The Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy (RBTA) and Kamal India Foundation UK have entered into a collaborative initiative to provide comprehensive tennis training to underprivileged children aged between 9 and 11 from the remote areas of Majuli Island and Bongaigaon in Assam.

Around 300 kids underwent a skill and fitness assessment process and 25 were handpicked by Bopanna, the reigning Australian Open doubles champion, for inclusion in the programme.

Australian Open ups prize money 10%, new initiatives for 2019
MELBOURNE: The first Grand Slam of the tennis calendar, Australian Open has decided to yet again hike its prize money by 10%, from AUD 55 million in 2018 to 60.5 million ($42.8 million) in 2019.
