NEW DELHI: A week after the Equestrian Federation of India sent a letter to the Sports Ministry, asking to be exempt from certain provisions of the National Sports Code, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Thursday reiterated in the Lok Sabha (Lower House of Parliament) that all national sports federations (NSFs) will have to adhere to the code.

NEW DELHI: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday stated that the government will set up National Sports Education Board under the Khelo India programme.
"To popularise sports at all levels, National Sports Education Board for development of sportspersons to be set up under Khelo India," Sitharaman said, while presenting the Union Budget 2019-20 in Parliament.

NEW DELHI: Acting on expected lines, the Union government has given in-principle approval for the Indian Davis Cup team to travel to Pakistan later this year.
The two-day, three-match tie, to be held in Islamabad in September, will decide which team will qualify for the Davis Cup qualifiers slated for early next year.

NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced domestic schedule for the 2019-20 season in here Wednesday.
It comprises 2036 matches, marking an addition of 19 games over the last season's schedule.
The country's premier national T20 tournament, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, will be held before the IPL players' auction. The tournament will run from November 8 to December 1.
