CGF to unveil CWG 2026 host city next month

Well justified fears that the 2026 edition of the Commonwealth Games would not take place, after the originally announced host - Australia's Victoria state - declared its inability to do so, can now be put to rest.

The Commonwealth Games Federation asserted Monday that it aimed to announce a new host for its 2026 event next month, stating that following the April meeting of its executive board, the CGF is "considering multiple proposals" from potential hosts.

AFI to lay down qualifying norms for intl meets
MUMBAI: The Athletics Federation of India has decided to set qualifying standards well in advance for the upcoming big meets, the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games in 2018. The AFI’s Planning, Coaching, Monitoring and Implementation Committee met in Patiala last week to review the Indians’ performances at the World Championships and chalk out the programme for the future.

Birmingham, KL remain in running to host 2022 CWG
LONDON: Birmingham has been chosen over Liverpool for England's bid to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport has backed the West Midlands city which would have to convince the Commonwealth Games Federation it should stage the event, BBC reports. However, it must first be decided whether to go ahead with a formal bid.

No cricket at CWG 2022
MUMBAI: Cricket, which has been part of the Commonwealth Games only once so far, is unlikely to get a berth in the CWG 2022, whichever city hosts the Games.

Sports Ministry allocates Rs3bn to NSFs for FY 17-18
