The Women’s Tennis Association has entered into a commercial rights partnership with CVC Capital Partners that also entails the private equity giant taking a minority stake in the WTA. 

While financial details were not revealed, Sky News reports that CVC would be paying $150 million for a 20% stake in the WTA, with the firm set to establish a new company to oversee broadcasting and marketing operations.

LONDON: Tennis legend and Laureus Academy Member Boris Becker has warned that his sport is in crisis and has urged governing bodies to come together to find a solution. The six-time Grand Slam winner, in an interview on Laureus.com, said: “Since March there hasn't been any official tennis, so I call this a chance, a unique situation, for all governing bodies to come together.”

MONTREAL: The women's section of the Rogers Cup has been postponed to 2021, Tennis Canada and the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) have confirmed. The WTA event in Montreal will be postponed until 2021 as a result of the recent measures enacted by the government of the Canadian province of Quebec in regards to public events, it was announced.

SHENZHEN, China: Gemdale Group, in partnership with the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association), Wednesday announced Japanese personal care company Shiseido as the title sponsor of the WTA Finals Shenzhen. The season-ending tournament will be known as the Shiseido WTA Finals Shenzhen, with the first staging of the Chinese city’s 10-year tenure as host to take place from October 27 to November 3.
