MUMBAI: The Indian Premier League will switching back to Sky Sports in the UK for the next three seasons after the (now) Comcast-owned satellite broadcaster sealed an exclusive agreement with (now) Disney-owned global media rights holder Star Sports. In 2019, BT Sport had secured the IPL rights with a last-ditch pitch. The tournament was also available online via Hotstar - the streaming app run by Star India.

NEW DELHI: The Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) saw another increase in viewership numbers during the 2019 season as the T20 league continues to grow in stature and reputation.  Total viewership, combining broadcast and digital, was 312 million – an increase of 56% from 2018. Viewership for the tournament has increased every season over the event’s seven-year history.

Wednesday announced that the audio streaming subscription service has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire The Ringer, a leading creator of sports, entertainment and pop culture content.  The Ringer was founded by Bill Simmons in 2016. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

MUMBAI: Disney+ has a launch date in India. Sunday, March 29, the day IPL 2020 kicks off, is when Disney's on-demand streaming service will make its bow in the Indian market.  Disney+ will be made available through Hotstar — which Disney owns through its acquisition of 21st Century Fox — with both Hotstar VIP and Hotstar Premium being rebranded to ‘Disney+ Hotstar'.
