NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

LAHORE: The Asia Cup 2020 is highly likely to be postponed due to the Asian Cricket Council's (ACC’s) continued deferral on a final decision, Pakistan's The News reports.  The hosting rights to the continental tournament lie with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which was expected to agree to stage the event in Dubai due to India's refusal to travel to Pakistan.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board announced the successful bidder of the contract for media rights consultancy services pursuant to a transparent bidding process, said an official press release. Australian firm Colgan Bauer was declared successful in its bid as they submitted the lowest evaluated bid from a total of seven firms who participated in the bidding process.

Kolkata Knight Riders CEO Venky Mysore, speaking at a webinar organised by FICCI Wednesday, said the IPL's stakeholders have an interesting opportunity in hand.

LONDON: The England and Wales Cricket Board has reported a record turnover of £228 million in financial results for 2019-20 announced Tuesday at ECB's annual general meeting (AGM).  This is an increase of £56m from 2018, which included a men’s tour of India, when it reached a turnover of £172m. It is also considerably higher than an average year which yields approximately £125m turnover.

MUMBAI: To all the possible scenarios floating on the conditions under which the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League might have its innings in 2020, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has added his views. “We can’t say what will happen in the days to come. It is tough to predict. We are looking at all options. We are still not sure when cricket could resume,” Ganguly told Sportskeeda.

NEW DELHI: Forbes has released its 2020 list of the top 100 highest paid athletes in the world. No surprises for guessing that cricket superstar Virat Kohli is the only Indian to feature.   Kohli is ranked at number 66 with total earnings of $26 million, making a jump of over 30 places from 2019, according to the annual Forbes list released on Friday.

LONDON: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Thursday confirmed a further delay to the start of the professional domestic cricket season, with no domestic cricket to be played before 1 August. The specifics of the season remain subject to ongoing advice from UK government and health experts, but the ambition remains to host domestic men's and women's cricket across England and Wales later this summer.
