NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union budget of the fiscal year 2022-2023, and sports got an increase of Rs 305.58 crore, to Rs 3062.60 crore.

Which makes this year's budgetary allocation for sports the highest ever. The sports budget for the year 2021-2022 was Rs 2549.41 cr, which was later amended to Rs 2757.02 cr.

NEW DELHI: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday stated that the government will set up National Sports Education Board under the Khelo India programme. "To popularise sports at all levels, National Sports Education Board for development of sportspersons to be set up under Khelo India," Sitharaman said, while presenting the Union Budget 2019-20 in Parliament.
