NEW DELHI: A major hurdle in the Pakistan football team’s participation in this month’s South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup was cleared on Wednesday when the All India Football Federation (AIFF) got clearance from the Indian government to host the Pakistan football team. 

According to reports, India’s home, external affairs and sports ministries have provided all required clearances for Pakistan’s participation in the tournament.

MUMBAI: The upcoming South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship, to be held between 6-19 September in Kathmandu, Nepal, will see India take on traditional rivals Pakistan their first game. The game will also mark the Pakistan women’s team's first international match in over eight years. They last played international football during the 2014 SAFF Women’s Championship, which Pakistan hosted.

MUMBAI: The Indian women’s football team has risen four places to be placed at the 56th spot in the FIFA ranking issued on Friday. The Indian team is ranked at 13th among Asian Football Confederation countries, sandwiched between Iran and Hong Kong, while Australia tops that list.

NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation has issued a tender notice inviting bids for new clubs to enter the I-League.  The AIFF is inviting bids from "prospective team owners" in "Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ranchi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bhopal, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Malapurram and Trivandrum, among others".
