First Opening Ceremony since 2018 to set stage for IPL 2023

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed on Wednesday that Bollywood singer Arijit Singh and actress Tamannah Bhatia will be performing at the Opening Ceremony of the 2023 edition of the TATA Indian Premier League, which kicks off Friday, 31 March.

This will be the first IPL Opening Ceremony since 2018 and, as is the tradition, will be held before the first match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

COLOMBO: The second edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) kicked off here Sunday with an opening ceremony in front of fans at the R Premadasa Stadium, that also had Sri Lanka Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and the island nation's Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa in attendance.  Paralympic Gold medalist Dinesh Priyantha also graced the event and declared the T20 franchise tournament open.

BCCI budgets Rs500m for big bang IPL opening ceremony
MUMBAI: The BCCI has allocated Rs 500 million for the opening ceremony of the eleventh edition of the IPL, Rs 200 million more than what was budgeted for eight separate events held in each of the eight home venues of the respective franchises last year.
