WRC to head into Arctic Circle with new Finnish rally

THE FIA WORLD RALLY Championship will venture into the Arctic Circle for the first time next month after WRC Promoter today added Arctic Rally Finland Powered by CapitalBox to the 2021 calendar.

The all-new snow and ice event will be based in Rovaniemi on 26 - 28 February and replaces the cancelled Rally Sweden as the WRC’s only pure winter encounter. It forms round two of the 12-event fixture list.

WRC scores esports partner deal with Fanatec
WRC PROMOTER GmbH, commercial rights holders of the FIA World Rally Championship, has completed a multi-year agreement with sim racing hardware experts Fanatec to become the official partner of the WRC’s eSports activities. Fanatec is the leading brand for sim racing hardware, including steering wheels, pedals and complete cockpits for PlayStation, Xbox and PC-based motorsport simulators.

Citroen pulls plug on World Rally Championship presence
PARIS: Citroën will leave the FIA World Rally Championship with immediate effect, it was announced on Wednesday. The French auto major has cut short a two year-commitment with its C3 World Rally Car which was due to run until the end of 2020.

WRC clocks in new timing partner
GENEVA: Swiss watch brand Anonimo has added to its portfolio of motorsport partnerships with a new multi-year agreement as the official timekeeper of the FIA World Rally Championship starting with the 2018 season, which kicked off last weekend with the legendary Monte-Carlo rally, the first of 13 rounds this year (see below for full calendar).
