Xiaomi’s Black Shark to launch gaming smartphones in India this year

MUMBAI: Xiaomi is all set to bring its gaming smartphone brand, Black Shark into India with its operations to be centred in Bengaluru and headed by David Li, the brand’s global VP.

Besides smartphones, the company will introduce its peripherals such as the Gamepad 2.0 controller. The former OnePlus communications head, Chirag Nagendra has been named the Black Shark India CMO, responsible for brand building and communications strategy in the country.

The original Xiaomi Black Shark was launched first up in China in April 2018, followed by UK and Europe in November.

The device is based on the Snapdragon 845 SoC and also has up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, a 5.99-inch screen, a liquid cooling system, and a 4000mAh battery.

A refresh called the Xiaomi Black Shark Helo was launched in October, with a slightly larger 6.01-inch display and up to 10GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
