Dear Reader,

Welcome to the first edition of The Sports Law & Policy Newsletter, India’s only newsletter dedicated to sports law & policy related issues. This is brought to you by The Sports Law & Policy Centre, Bengaluru in collaboration with SportzPower.

The newsletter is our contribution towards the dissemination of relevant sports law and policy related opinion and information to various stakeholders in Indian sport.

In this edition of the newsletter, Roshan Gopalakrishna examines the verdict of the Supreme Court of India in Union of India v. BCCI & Ors., analysing its potential impact on the controversial issue of mandatory sharing of sports signals in India. Next, Seshank Shekar reviews the National Sports University Bill, 2017 and Anirban Saikia provides an overview of the National Sports Talent Search Scheme, its implementation and comparison with similar schemes for talent identification worldwide. Further, the Newsletter summarises the most important sports law and policy related news stories from September and October 2017. The newsletter concludes with a section containing links to other sports law and policy related news stories from September and October 2017 that you may find interesting.
