DALLAS, TX: Pickleball, billed as America’s fastest-growing sport, is going after a new frontier - India. The United Pickleball Association (UPA), which was created after a merger between Major League Pickleball and the Professional Pickleball Association in the US last February, and India-based Global Sports have inked a deal to bring the PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball to the country.

As a part of the partnership, the organizations will launch key initiatives to the country, promoting the rapidly-growing sport to a young market.

LONDON: Quanhai Li (CHN) has been elected as World Sailing president, announced today at World Sailing's virtual general assembly. Four presidential candidates were up for election in the first round and no candidate received more than 50% of votes. A second round of voting was required between the top two candidates. Kim Andersen (DEN) and Li advanced to the second round.

MONACO: The World Athletics Indoor Tour will offer enhanced competition opportunities next year with the introduction of three tiers of competition – Gold, Silver and Bronze – comprising 26 meetings spread across 12 countries in Europe and North America. LAUSANNE: The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has confirmed plans to send up to six athletes to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games as part of a Refugee Paralympic Team (RPT). The IPC will work with its commercial partners and UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to create awareness of the plight faced by refugee athletes and send a message of hope to the almost 80 million forcibly displaced worldwide.

The Abhinav Bindra Sports Medicine and Research Institute (ABSMARI) will offer four-year Bachelor of Physiotherapy and two-year Masters of Physiotherapy courses, with different specialisations, reports The Hindu.
