NEW DELHI: The Directorate of Sports and Youth Services of the government of Maharashtra has awarded INR 10 lakhs to each Esports athlete of the state who represented India in the Asian Games 2022, held in Hangzhou. 

This is the first time any state has included Esports alongside mainstream sports in prize money rewards for its state players in a major tournament. The recipients of the monetary reward include Darshan Bata, captain of the DOTA 2 team, along with his teammates Krish Gupta, Ketan Goyal, and Shubham Goli, as well as League of Legends athlete Samarth Trivedi.

GUWAHATI: The third edition of the Khelo India Youth Games has been conducted successfully in Guwahati.  Speaking on Tuesday, a day ahead of the event's culmination, Sports Authority of India director-general Sandip Pradhan expressed satisfaction with the way the tournament was organised.

GUWAHATI: Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched the third edition of the Khelo India Youth Games Friday in an opening ceremony that showcased the state's cultural diversity and the country's oneness. 25,000 spectators were at the Indira Gandhi Stadium to celebrate the spirit of 'One India' during the opening ceremony, PTI reports.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has withdrawn its (always dead in the water?) threat to boycott the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham over shooting's exclusion. It also announced that the country will bid to host either the 2026 or the 2030 edition of the event.
