Formula 1 approves rule changes for 2019 to promote closer racing
LONDON: Motorsport's governing body has given a go-ahead to the rule changes that have been proposed in order to increase overtaking and promote closer racing in Formula One.  Following a presentation made to the F1 teams at the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Strategy Group, the F1 Commission and the World Motor Sport Council have approved a number of regulation changes for the 2019 season.

Yas Experiences appoints VFS Global as India rep
ABU DHABI: Yas Experiences, Yas Island's recently launched trade arm, has signed an agreement with VFS Global, appointing them as the company's representative in the Indian market. The appointment will see the new partner work closely with the Yas Experiences' business development team in Abu Dhabi to promote the leisure and entertainment destination and provide package solutions for trade partners across India.

Petronas is F1's 1st 'regional sponsor'
KUALA LUMPUR: Formula 1 has unveiled Malaysian oil and gas giant Petronas as its first regional sponsor, a designation it describes as "a new category of F1 sponsorship focused on targeted markets".  The agreement covers China, Italy and Mexico and names Petronas as F1’s regional sponsor for fuel and lubricants in the three countries. The length of the deal was not disclosed.

F1 takes stake in fantasy sports platform
LONDON: Formula One has made an investment in fantasy sports platform PlayON at a company valuation of £30 mmillion ($42.6 million). PlayON will serve as the official daily fantasy partner of Formula One and run the new fantasy games. The deal includes the integration of live Formula 1 grands prix, via Formula 1's new media service F1 TV, on to the PlayOn platform in key markets.

MotoGP extends Parts Europe deal
MADRID: Dorna Sports has extended for a further two years the longstanding relationship between Parts Europe and MotoGP’s commercial rights holder that first began more than a decade ago.  Parts Europe is part of the Le Mans Corporation founded by Fred Fox and based in Janesville, Wisconsin, alongside Parts Unlimited.

SIA extends title rights to F1 Singapore GP
SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) has announced that it will extend its title sponsorship of the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix for another two years, until 2019. Singapore Airlines first signed as title sponsor in 2014, initially for two years. The sponsorship was subsequently extended for the 2016 and 2017 races.
