8 teams, 1 venue: Siri Fort to host all SFL 2017 bouts

NEW DELHI: The stage is set for live action of the first season of franchise based mixed martial arts promotion Super Fight League to kick off here Friday at the Siri Fort Sports Complex.

The opening ceremony will be telecast on Sony Max at 6 PM and will feature performances from music director duo Salim-Sulaiman who also co-own the UP Nawabs team in the league. 

SFL consists of eight teams with two teams battling it out each fight night. The matches will be telecasted live on Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD, 7 PM onwards on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 

Bill Dosanjh, SFL’s CEO & principal founder said: “We are extremely excited and look forward to the inaugural season of the league. This league will showcase a glimpse of how exciting mixed martial arts really is. Super Fight League has some talented Indian and international fighters on board who will fight it out till the end to secure a victory for their team. We once again thank all our team owners, partners and Sony Pictures Network for making this dream a possibility.  

Amir Khan, SFL’s co-founder and two-time world boxing champion, adds: “India has a lot of talent in mixed martial arts which we are going to witness this season. I’m proud of the fact that with this competition we are giving young talent an opportunity to exhibit their prowess. India has always shown potential in combat sports and hopefully we churn out some superstars in the first season.”
