MUMBAI: Match No. 32 of IPL 2022 between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, which was shifted from MCA Stadium in Pune to Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai due to COVID-19 outbreak in the DC team, finally went ahead on schedule. 

The developments came even as a second overseas player of Delhi Capitals tested positive. This came just hours ahead of the team's game against Punjab Kings. 

New Zealand's Tim Seifert tested positive after a Rapid Antigen Test conducted on Wednesday afternoon, making it the sixth such case in the camp.

LONDON: Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant and training assistant/net bowler Dayanand Garani tested positive for COVID-19 in the last week. Bowling coach Bharat Arun, wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha and reserve player Abhimanyu Easwaran were identified as close contacts of Garani and will undergo 10-day isolation in London before joining the team.

LONDON: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have confirmed that three players and four members of the management staff tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday in Bristol. The members who have tested positive will self-isolate as per UK Government's quarantine protocol. The rest of the group in the bio-bubble too will have to self-isolate after being deemed as close contacts to those who tested positive.

NEW DELHI: The European Tour Friday announced the cancellation of the $1.75 million Hero Indian Open, scheduled to be held in thye capital in October, citing the uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 situation in the country. This is the second year running that Indian golf's biggest event will not be held in the country as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic.

DUBAI: The International Cricket Council Tuesday confirmed that the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will be staged in the UAE and Oman due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation in India. The BCCI will remain the hosts of the event, which will now be held in Dubai International Stadium, the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, the Sharjah Stadium, and the Oman Cricket Academy Ground, from 17 October to 14 November.

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to form a committee to look into compensating Indian domestic cricketers for loss of income suffered in the 2020 and 2021 seasons due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  The decision was taken Sunday at the BCCI's 8th apex council meeting (emergent meeting).

NEW DELHI: Track legend Milkha Singh, one of the country’s earliest sports heroes, died of Covid-related complications in a private hospital in Chandigarh late on Friday night, leaving the athletics community in shock and disbelief.  The Flying Sikh, 91, lost his wife Nirmal Kaur to the virus earlier this week.

DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC), through its Cricket for Good initiative, Thursday launched a fundraising campaign to support UNICEF’s emergency COVID-19 response in South Asia.  The campaign was launched ahead of the inaugural World Test Championship final being played in Southampton between India and New Zealand from Friday, June 18th, through to June 22.
