Assam government offers DSP post to to Hima Das

GUWAHATI: Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced Friday that Hima Das will be offered the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Sarma made the announcement during the ongoing budget session in the Assam state assembly.

Posting the news on his official Twitter handle, Sarma tweeted: "To encourage sports persons who succeed in winning in Olympics, Asian Games and Commonwealth Games, I propose to bring in a policy to designate such high achievers, as Grade-I officers of the state government.

NEW DELHI: With the Khelo India Youth Games to be held in Guwahati between 10th and 22nd of this month, the Assam state government has not only focused on conducting the Games successfully but has looked to create a sporting culture in the state of Assam.  The major goal is to make Guwahati the sporting capital of India.
