NTO 2.0

NEW DELHI : The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has further extending the deadline for implementation of the new tariff order (NTO 2.0) to 1 June from 1 April.

TRAI had earlier extended the deadline last November from 1 December 2021 to 1 April 2022. 

The regulator said the decision has been taken following several representations from stakeholders requesting for extension of time limit due to Covid.

MUMBAI: Acting on expected lines, the Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF) on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court challenging the recent Bombay High Court verdict that upheld the New Tariff Orders (NTO) 1.0 and 2.0, besides the powers of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to fix tariffs for broadcasting, Exchange4Media reports.

MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court has pronounced its verdict on the challenges filed by television broadcasters against Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) New Tariff Order (NTO) 2.0. While upholding the constitutional validity of NTO 2.0, it has struck down the crucial second part of the TRAI order, deeming its provisions to be "arbitrary".
