Khelo India University Games 2021

BENGALURU: The curtains were drawn on the Khelo India University Games 2021 here Tuesday.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, chief guest for the closing ceremony, presented the overall champion's title to hosts Jain Deemed-to-be University who ended their campaign with 20 Gold, 7 Silver, and 5 Bronze medals. Lovely Professional University, Punjab won 17 Gold medals, 15 Silver, and 19 Bronze, while defending champions Panjab University finished third in the medal tally with 15 Gold, 9 Silver, and 24 bronze medals.

BENGALURU: The stage is set for the second edition of the Khelo India University Games 2021 to kick off on Saturday in the Karnataka capital. KIUG 2021, delayed by a year due to the pandemic, will see over 4,000 athletes from over 200 universities compete for the top prize in 20 disciplines.

BENGALURU: Khelo India University Games, scheduled to start here on April 24, will serve as a qualifying event for the World University Games, set to be held in Chengdu, China from June 26. “As of now we have information that the World (University) Games is scheduled to be held in China,” The Hindu quotes UV Shankar, director of Sports, Jain University, as having said at a media briefing on Tuesday.

BENGALURU: With just two weeks left for the Khelo India University Games 2021, the Government of Karnataka, along with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, is geared up to host the biggest national sporting event post-pandemic here with Jain University as the host University for the Games.

NEW DELHI: Karnataka will be the host state of the second Khelo India University Games (KIUG), scheduled to be held later this year. The announcement was made on Sunday by the state's chief minister BS Yediyurappa and Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju. The games will be held in Bengaluru's Jain University and other venues in the state, in partnership with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
