NEW DELHI: Premier Badminton League (PBL) is all set for a much-awaited comeback after a two-year hiatus with season 6, scheduled from December 17 to January 14, 2023.

PBL is organised by SportzLive — the official license holder of the league - under the aegis of the Badminton Association of India (BAI).

The upcoming edition of the league will once again bring exciting world-class badminton action to the fans after a break of two years, owing to the pandemic.

BENGALURU: A year after losing a narrow final to the Hyderabad Hunters, Bengaluru Raptors came up trumps in their second successive finals, edging the Mumbai Rockets 4-3 to win their first Premier Badminton League title at the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, here on Sunday. The PBL Season 4 winners were richer by Rs 30 million for their efforts, while the Mumbai team went home Rs 15 million to the good as runners-up.

NEW DELHI: There is a new owner and a change in name for the Chennai team in season five of the Premier Badminton League, which kicks off on January 20. Vijay Prabhakaran, owner of the Chennai Smashers for the last four seasons, has exited the league and organisers SportzLive have announced R Sivakumar as the new owner of the team, which has been rechristened Chennai Superstarz.

NEW DELHI: The players auction for the fifth season of the Premier Badminton League here Tuesday saw world champion PV Sindhu and world number 1 women's singles player Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei fetching the highest prices of Rs 7.7 million each. Incidentally, while each franchise had a purse of Rs 20 million, Rs 7.7 million was the maximum a team could bid for a player.
