Olympic Movement sends $1m aid for Turkey, Syria quake victims

Following the devastating earthquake that recently hit Turkey and Syria, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), the European Olympic Committees (EOC) and the Olympic Refuge Foundation (ORF) will donate a total of $1 million to help the Olympic community in the areas affected by the natural disaster. 

The IOC and OCA will each give $250,000, EOC will give €‎250,000, while the ORF will make available an additional amount of $260,000 for immediate emergency assistance to the local population and refugees in Turkey.

Kho-Kho wins official OCA recognition
JAKARTA: After kabaddi, a second "traditional" Indian sport has won recognition from the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).  The recognition was granted by the OCA at its general assembly meeting here Sunday, PTI reports. Kho-Kho will now be included as a demonstration sport in the Asian Indoor Games and stands a very good chance to feature in the next Asian Games event, official sources told the newswire.

OCA prez positive on India hosting Asian Games
JAKARTA: Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) President Shaikh Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah has said that India will get to host a third Asian Games if the country "shows interest". India hosted the first ever Asian Games in New Delhi in 1951 and then again in 1982. Since then, Commonwealth Games in 2010, remains the only international multi-sport event that India has hosted.

IOC lifts Kuwait NOC suspension for Asian Games but issues warning
JAKARTA: Kuwait Olympic Committee was welcomed back into the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) at the 37th OCA General Assembly on Sunday. However, Kuwait was warned by the OCA today to stop its "world record" of government interference in sport or face being exiled for a third time.

IOA to assert readiness to host big ticket events during Bach visit
NEW DELHI: International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach will meet the newly-elected members of Indian Olympic Association (IOA) executive board during his brief visit to New Delhi between April 18 to April 20.  Also visiting India during the period will be Sheikh Ahmad Al Sabah, president Association of National Olympic Committees and president Olympic Council of Asia.
