MUMBAI: The BCCI's best efforts to ensure all matches of the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League take place in the country have reportedly come a cropper, putting paid to hopes raised separately by the Indian cricket board's acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary and board CEO Rahul Johri.
That the 12th edition of world cricket's biggest annual tournament will move abroad looks a certainty now as a result of its clashing with the upcoming general elections, due latest in March-April.
