MUMBAI: The 2022-23 Indian Super League (ISL) kicks off on October 7 as last season's runners-up Kerala Blasters host East Bengal FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. 

The 2022-23 season will be special as fans will be welcomed back to the stadiums after a gap of two seasons. Teams will now have the support of their '12th Man' yet again after missing them for two years.

MUMBAI: Hero Indian Super League 2021-22 season will witness an increase in number of Indian players in the playing XI, as the new Coach & Player Selection Guidelines issued  by ISL commercial rights holder Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) now mandates clubs to have a minimum of seven Indian players on the field at any point of time.

MUMBAI: Even as the Bengali sports media fraternity continue to talk up East Bengal FC's next-to-nonexistent chances of being a part of the Indian Super League in the upcoming season, Football Sports Development Limited, which runs the ISL, has made clear in a meeting with club representatives over the weekend that FSDL would be sticking to just 10 teams and would not be floating tenders for new outfits.
