NEW DELHI: A petition was filed in the Delhi High Court seeking an enquiry as to why the Indian Premier League (IPL) is being prioritized over public health and to direct the Centre, the Delhi government and cricketing bodies BCCI and Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) to stop the matches with immediate effect.

The plea, accessed by ANI, was filed by advocate Karan Singh Thukral and social activist Inder Mohan Singh urging for directions to the respondents to held an inquiry as to why the IPL is being prioritized over public health.

NEW DELHI: Rohan Jaitley, son of former Union finance minister Arun Jaitley, was elected unanimously as the new president of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) on Saturday.  For the record, Arun Jaitley was the president of the DDCA between December 1999 and 2012.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday gave the green signal to the new dates of elections of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) next month after the warring factions struck an out-of-court settlement and submitted affidavits to that effect. The new polling dates are November 5-8, as per IANS.

This time though, DDCA ombudsman Justice (Retd) Badar Durrez Ahmed has accepted the resignation of the noted media personality and promoter of the pro-government Hindi news channel India TV.

NEW DELHI: Former Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley passed away at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Saturday. He was 66 years old and is survived by his wife Sangeeta Jaitley, and two children - Sonali Jaitley Bakshi and Rohan Jaitley - both lawyers. Jaitley had undergone surgeries to treat his cancer, and had been admitted to the ICU on August 9.
