FIFA lifts AIFF suspension; U-17 Women's World Cup as scheduled

NEW DELHI: The Bureau of the FIFA Council Friday lifted the suspension that was imposed on the All India Football Federation (AIFF) due to undue third-party influence. 

The decision was taken after FIFA received confirmation that the mandate of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators that was set up to assume the powers of the AIFF executive committee had been terminated and that the AIFF administration had regained full control of the AIFF’s daily affairs.

21 BCCI affiliates ignore CoA diktat on members’ list
NEW DELHI: Only 10 of the 31 affiliated units of the Board of Control for Cricket in India have responded to the Committee of Administrators’ demand of submitting their members’ list.  The CoA had asked the state associations to display the list on their respective websites even though some of the units don’t even have a website.

Kerala HC directs AFI to include PU Chitra on IAAF World C'ships team
KOCHI: The Kerala High Court, in an interim order, has directed the Athletics Federation of India “ensure the participation" Asian Athletics 1500m Gold medalist PU Chitra at next month’s IAAF World Championships in London.  The case will be taken up on Monday for detailed hearing. Apart from the AFI, the court has issued notices to the Sports Ministry and AFI selection committee chairman GS Randhawa.

SC to hear IPL media rights e-auction arguments on Aug 22
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has set on August 22 to hear arguments on a petition moved by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy seeking e-auctioning of media rights of the Indian Premier League.  For the record, 24 August is the last date given by the BCCI for purchase of its Invitation To Tender (ITT) document and 28 August is when the bids are supposed to be opened and the winning bidders announced.

CoA members for dropping 'Control' from BCCI
MUMBAI: The Committee of Administrators (COA) appointed by the Supreme Court is in favour of dropping the word “Control” from the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India).  The suggestion has come from none other than Bishan Bedi, the former legendary Test spinner. “It is indeed a very good suggestion and personally I welcome it,” Vinod Rai, chief of the committee, told Deccan Chronicle.
