PARIS: Close on the heels of a French court ruling that Arabsat was complicit in the beoutQ piracy operation, FIFA declared it was "seeking the cooperation of" the Saudi-headquartered satellite distributor in addressing the misuse of FIFA's intellectual property.

"FIFA is aware that unauthorised transmissions of the FIFA Women's World Cup 2019 are being made available across the MENA region, primarily Saudi Arabia, via the pirate broadcaster known as beoutQ," FIFA said in a statement to The Associated Press news agency.

LONDON: The English Premier League is ratcheting up the pressure on Saudi-owned satellite television operator Arabsat in the case of Riyadh based pirate TV channel beoutQ, which has with impunity been illegally broadcasting football matches across the Middle East and North Africa. After moving the the European Commission, the Premier League has said it is taking steps to bring legal action in Saudi Arabia.
