MUMBAI: LaLiga is set to premiere BehindTheCameras, a one-off documentary showcasing the broadcast innovations that LaLiga has implemented since the return of LaLiga football in early June.
It will focus in particular on how LaLiga has offered virtual atmosphere as part of its broadcasts across the last 11 matchdays. The one-off programme will be aired on Facebook Watch in India.
Broadcasting a live sporting event with virtual crowd noise has been a veritable challenge for LaLiga, a pioneer in this kind of virtualisation, and a step unprecedented among sports leagues around the world. With this in mind, LaLiga has decided to offer a behind the scenes view of the entire process and show fans the innovation and hard work which underpins the technology.
The BehindTheCameras documentary will showcase everything that has gone on behind the scenes and feature interviews with those who have played a major role in making it possible, including LaLiga’s Audiovisual director Melcior Soler; head of TV Production at LaLiga Sergio Sanchez; Match director at Mediapro Oscar Lago; and wTVision’s Willem van Breukelen.
Together they will show fans the process involved in installing a virtual crowd in the stands of LaLiga Santander stadiums for broadcasts. The documentary will show in detail how the virtual sound has been managed, using real audio recorded in stadiums during official LaLiga matches thanks to an agreement with partner EA Sports.
BehindTheCameras is the second documentary produced by LaLiga, which also created TodayWePlay, a special programme examining how the Return to Competition Protocol was produced during the enforced break and on the opening matchdays.
