Under the lens: COVID 'Impact on the Business of Cricket'

Sports Post Lockdown Webinar series logo

MUMBAI: The subject is relevant. As too the timing. The third episode of the ongoing #SportsPostLockdown webinar series in the times of coronavirus - Impact on the Business of Cricket - which will be held on Wednesday, May 26, from 3 PM IST onwards, takes place a day ahead of the crucial board meeting of the International Cricket Council.

This meeting could offer some clear indication of the fate of the men's Twenty20 World Cup, due to be held in Australia from October 18. Will it go ahead as scheduled. Or will it be postponed? The prevailing sentiment is that it is set to be postponed.

Which of course brings the discussion spotlight on to the Indian Premier League. And the billion dollar question. Will IPL 2020 slot into the window vacated by the World T20? And partially cover for the $600 million loss to the global cricket economy that would be the financial fallout in the event there is no IPL this year?

And while IPL 2020's fate may be the "tentpole" topic of debate, it is just ONE among the many critical issues that will be up for discussion during the webinar, which is Presented by GainAccess Sports & Entertainment and SportzPower. And Powered by BrandAid Events.

With participation from Yannick Colaco, Co-Founder, FanCode; Dhiraj Malhotra, CEO, Delhi Capitals; Joy Bhattacharjya, CEO, Pro Volleyball League; and moderated by renowned cricket savant Ayaz Memon, the webinar promises to offer the most incisive understanding possible of the "Impact on the Business of Cricket" in the times of COVID and what the landscape could look like in the short to medium term.
