TCS World 10K Bengaluru postponed to 22 Nov

BENGALURU: Procam International, promoters of the Tata Consultancy Services World 10K Bengaluru, Friday announced a second postponement of Asia’s only Gold Label 10 Km Race - to 22nd November.

The TCS World 10K, one amongst only five Gold Label 10 km races globally, holds a place of pride in the global running calendar and receives applause for its formidable international elite field and mass participation each year.  

A cohesive collaboration amongst global sporting entities such as the Association of International Marathons & Distance Running (AIMS), World Athletics (WA), Global Sports Communication (GSC), along with Athletics Federation of India (AFI), and the government of Karnataka, has been the hallmark of this event. Further inputs from some of these frontline bodies, has encouraged the promoters to take the call, to shift the date of this marquee sporting property.

Like many other sporting events across the globe, this is the first time in history this prestigious event that put Bengaluru on the global map of distance running  has been postponed.

Traditionally conducted on the third Sunday of May, it was first postponed to 13 Spetember; and has now been re-scheduled to 22nd November.

Emphasising on the benefits of this revised date, Vivek Singh, joint-MD Procam International, said: “While this pandemic has plunged the world into a crisis we have never encountered before, we believe this phase will pass, with sport coming through even stronger.

“Safety and precaution are paramount for the event. This re-scheduling of the Tata Consultancy Services World 10K, was imminent to regain some form of normalcy, especially for the travel and participation of our international stakeholders. The support and co-operation received from all our stakeholders, has been unparalleled. 22nd November 2020, should give us all necessary time to heal, re-energise and deliver the event with our customary zeal.”

The online registrations for the rescheduled event will commence on Tuesday, 8th September at 7am on https://tcsworld10k.procam.in. 

Hugh Jones, race director, TCS World 10K Bengaluru, said: "These are unprecedented times and the world has not witnessed a prolonged fight against a pandemic such as this. Postponing an event of this magnitude is never easy. We are fortunate that all stakeholders were on board with this new date and they too are of the belief that runner’s safety comes first. We are positive this will be over soon, and we can once again etch inspiring stories from India, for the world.”

For the benefit of registered runners, following options have been designed to ensure a smooth transition.

For those runners who have already applied for the 2020 edition, their registrations will be automatically transferred to the new race date i.e. 22nd November 2020, without any payment. 

Registered applicants who choose not to take part (or are unable to do so) in the rescheduled event on Sunday i.e. 22nd November, will be able to surrender their entry to Procam International with effect from 12th July to 29th July by filling the online bib surrender request form on https://tcsworld10k.procam.in. The application fees paid will be refunded post deduction of INR 150 as processing charges.

With the Tata Consultancy Services World 10K 2020 now in November, Procam International is offering an unparalleled athletic feast to the sporting world. India will be the cynosure of all eyes, with 4 different race distances throwing up exceptional competition and new stars. The World’s most prestigious Airtel Delhi Half Marathon on 18th October, the only World Athletics Silver Label - Tata Steel Kolkata 25K on 20th December and the iconic Tata Mumbai Marathon, on 17th January, are as per schedule.
