Junior Asia Cup Hockey pushed to 2021

DHAKA: The Junior Asia Cup Hockey, which was scheduled to be held from June 4-14 in Dhaka to celebrate the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh's "Father of the Nation", now has been shifted to next year.

The tournament was postponed by the Asian Hockey Federation last month due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Yes the Junior Asia Cup Hockey will now be held next year", Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) acting general secretary Mohammad Yousuf told local media, adding that new dates for the tournament are yet to be finalised.

"You know among the ten participating countries China, Korea and Japan are the most affected countries by the COVID-19 so the AHF will sit with the all participating countries to fix the date of the tournament."

Earlier, the BHF had a plan to organise number of international meets in home this year to celebrate the birth centenary of Sheikh Rahman, but due to outbreak of coronavirus those tournaments have been postponed or rescheduled.
