HYDERABAD: Freshly minted Hero Indian Super League franchise Hyderabad Football Club has unveiled its official logo titled 'Reliving Hyderabad's Football Legacy', ahead of the new season.

HFC, the newest entrant into Indian Super League, paid homage to the rich legacy of the city’s tryst with the sport. 

The logo paid tribute to the city’s heritage with the minarets of Charminar and the texture of the Kohinoor diamond while the digital campaign seemed to have gotten the netizens talking, including finding retweets and reposts among celebrities.
Vijay Madduri and Varun Tripuneni, co-owners of the club, said it was necessary to relive the legacy ahead of the upcoming tournament. “Hyderabad has had an interesting legacy with the sport from way back from the 1910 when the city hosted the first all-India tournament, known as Majeed’s Tournament. From then on, that is from the 1920s to 1950s, Hyderabad dominated the football scene in India and internationally, including making it to the Olympics” said Tripuneni.

Madduri added that taking inspiration from the city’s history would be a big boost to HFC that will be a great boost for the sport in the region. “With HFC, we hope to elevate the sport to being much more organised and professional, so that we can give a boost to the legacy that is already present in the city’s history and roots.”

Hyderabad FC will take on ATK in their debut match of the ISL on October 25. The sixth edition of the ISL kicks off on October 20.
