NEW DELHI: The Badminton Association of India (BAI) has announced a cash award of Rs 5,00,000 for Kidambi Srikanth on his win at the Denmark Open, clinching his third Super Series Premier title.

Srikanth beat South Korea's Lee Hyun II 21 -10 21-5 to clinch the title at the $750,000 Super Series event on Sunday.

Earlier this month, the world number eight emerged as the top prize money earner for the year, according to a list released by the Badminton World Federation.

"We are very proud of what Srikanth has achieved in the Danish Open. Our boys are on a roll and I can only see them winning more laurels for the country," Badminton Association of India (BAI) president Himanta Biswa Sarma told PTI.

This is the third title for the 24 year old in 2017 after the Indonesia Open and Australia Open. He thus becomes the only player after Chinese all time great Lin Dan to achieve the feat of winning three Superseries titles in a calendar year.
