M'rashtra govt awards Rs10l for Asian Games 2022 Esports athletes

NEW DELHI: The Directorate of Sports and Youth Services of the government of Maharashtra has awarded INR 10 lakhs to each Esports athlete of the state who represented India in the Asian Games 2022, held in Hangzhou. 

This is the first time any state has included Esports alongside mainstream sports in prize money rewards for its state players in a major tournament. The recipients of the monetary reward include Darshan Bata, captain of the DOTA 2 team, along with his teammates Krish Gupta, Ketan Goyal, and Shubham Goli, as well as League of Legends athlete Samarth Trivedi.

OCA, WADA join forces to educate Asian Games athletes
JAKARTA, Indonesia: The Olympic Council of Asia is continuing its fight against doping in sport at the heart of the 18th Asian Games: the Athletes’ Village at Kemayoran, Jakarta. With the support of the OCA, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has set up an information centre next to the dining hall as part of WADA’s Athlete Outreach programme.

OCA prez positive on India hosting Asian Games
JAKARTA: Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) President Shaikh Ahmed Al-Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah has said that India will get to host a third Asian Games if the country "shows interest". India hosted the first ever Asian Games in New Delhi in 1951 and then again in 1982. Since then, Commonwealth Games in 2010, remains the only international multi-sport event that India has hosted.

IOC lifts Kuwait NOC suspension for Asian Games but issues warning
JAKARTA: Kuwait Olympic Committee was welcomed back into the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) at the 37th OCA General Assembly on Sunday. However, Kuwait was warned by the OCA today to stop its "world record" of government interference in sport or face being exiled for a third time.
