Revenues at Viacom18, the media arm of Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), grew by 49% for the 2023-24 financial year on the back of sports and news. The company’s revenues reached Rs 10,826 crore ($1.3 billion) in FY24 as compared to Rs 7,266 crore ($872m) in FY23. 

Per the company’s statement, sports was the biggest driver of revenue growth for Viacom18. 

EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) was significantly down however - from $28.3 million the previous year to $3.9m.

MUMBAI: JioCinema, the official streaming platform for the TATA IPL, made an incredible opening for the 2024 season as over 11.3 crore (113 million) viewers logged in on Day 1, a 51% increase compared to Day 1 of IPL 2023.  As JioCinema commenced their second season on digital, over 590m video views were registered on the platform for the opening day of IPL 2024 which led to 6.6 billion minutes of watch-time.

Ahead of the start of 17th edition of the Indian Premier League, host broadcaster Star Sports has onboarded 15 sponsors and counting for world cricket's biggest annual jamboree.  IPL digital streaming rights holder JioCinema had Thursday reported a record number of 18 sponsors and over 250 advertisers for the upcoming season.

Mumbai Indians announced Friday that the RIL-owned Indian Premier League franchise had achieved its most successful commercial year in the IPL's 17-year history.  The team has added 12 new brands to their sponsorship roster, bringing the total to 26 brands, including 11 international and 15 domestic brands. This expansion reflects a 20% increase in sponsorship value.
