NEW DELHI: Adille Sumariwalla’s election unopposed as the Athletics Federation of India president for a third term was ratified on Day 1 of the federation’s AGM here on Saturday, as were all the other posts in the executive council.

But the focus of the meeting remained firmly on preparations for the Tokyo Olympics next year and curbing doping and age-fraud at all levels, reports The Hindu.

NEW DELHI: Adille Sumariwalla is set to be elected unopposed as Athletics Federation of India president for his third term, while former long jumper Anju Bobby George will be made senior vice-president in the polls of the national governing body on October 31st.  Sumariwalla and Anju were the only candidates who filed their nomination papers.

MUMBAI: IAAF president Sebastian Coe was elected for a second term at the 52nd IAAF Congress in Doha on Wednesday while Ximena Restrepo, Sergey Bubka, Geoffrey Gardner and Nawaf Bin Mohammed Al Saud were elected vice-presidents. All 203 voting members of Congress voted for Coe; there were no abstained votes.

NEW DELHI: The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has decided to provide grants to 100 district associations to fuel the growth of the sport across the country. The grant will also help the associations compete in the National Inter-District Junior Athletics Meet (NIDJAM) each year.
